Introduction
• My own pi1grimmage over the past 25 years and what fve learned
• When God spoke to me: "If you bring them to me.
• I will take them from that point forward" By prayer we bring them to the Throne (Hebrews 10:19-25)
• That is exactly what is happening in the movement of concerted prayer around the world today. And it is precisely what He can do on your campus.
• A story from India
• The model of Zechariah 8:20-23
• A model in Acts 13:1-4
1. What is it that we are praying for?
• The history of concerts of prayer over the past 300 years
• The prayer agenda in concerts of prayer
• Three major themes for every concert of prayer:
- For a fresh focus on all that Christ is-for us, in us, through us, and out ahead of us
- For a renewal and deepening of our life together in Christ
- For the advance of our mission for Christ with great power
• Why should this kind of praying fill US with N abounding hope?" (Romans 15:13)
2. The single most important principle in prayer mobilization: Helo people to be dear on the vision toward which they are praying. The biblical word is "hope ..
• Hope is foundational to the whole Christian life and mission
• See the power of "hope" in the Scriptures
• Take note of the power of "hope" in our life of prayer
• This is why "hope" is also crucial to prayer mobilization
• "hope" is also vital to sustaining a movement of united prayer
3. How do we express this "hope" toward God?
• Remember to express all three themes in a Concert of Prayer (see above)
• Express these theme by six major approaches to how we pray:
- Rejoice in who God is, what He has done, and for all He has promised to do.
- Worship and praise Him in anticipation of what more He is preparing to do
- Repent of every sin-personal sin and corporate sin-that would hinder God from pouring out a greater work of His Spirit in World evangelization
- How is the Church grieving the Spirit, or questioning the Spirit, or resisting or disobeying the Spirit in our life together
- Resist the forces of Darkness, who are so diamtrically opposed to what work of the Gospel around the world. Where has Satan raised up baniers and stronghold-both inside the church and among the nations-that could hinder world evangelization?
- Request boldly by petition and intercession that God would fulfill all
He has promised to do in reviving His people and in advance the cause of Christ around the world Our vision and hope in God that caused us to rejoice and praise and the purposes of God, so clearly revealed in the Scriptures, should now become the basis of all we ask Him to do for us in our generation.
- Receive everything God wants to give you as you pray.
prayer is really a two-way conversation.
As we pray, God is listening and God is also speaking, He will also answer our prayers. So as we pray, we need to be alert and constantly asking ourselves: How is God renewing me as I pray? What new promises of His Word have come alive in my heart.
Have I gained any new sense of hope about what God wants to do in me-in my church in my generation,. in my nation or among the nations? As fve praved has God spoke to me reassurance about any of my prayers, that He will in fact answer us? Has He reinforce my hope that I will see Him do great and mighty things because we have prayed? Are there any specific steps of obedience He is asking me to take right now so that I can be better prepared for the answers,
or so that I can actually become a part of the answers to our prayers?
-Finally, we need to recommit ourselves to God, to obey Him, to remain faithful in our prayers, to mobilize others with us into the same kind of prayer, and to be used by Him to be an answer to any of the prayers we have prayed no matter where it may take us or what it may cost us.
4. In leading a Cancer of Prayer, We can combine the 3 themes and the 5 approaches into one
“picture" that describes everything we could ever pray about. See the GRID on the following page. These 18 squares make up the full prayer agenda that must become a part of the prayers for all of us.
- Let me explain the GRID (“How To Pray For Revival")
- Let me show you some practical ways to use it as you lead a Concert of Prayer
5. Conclusion: It all comes together in the book of Ephesians
